AskDonut is a comedy chatbot. It is built to be funny, not to learn about you. This page explains, plainly, what the site handles and what it keeps.

SHE IS A CAT. DO NOT PASTE SECRETS INTO A CAT.

No accounts, no sign-in, no cookies

There is nothing to sign up for. The site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics trackers. If you install it as an app on your phone, your browser stores a copy of the page and icons so it opens quickly; that copy stays on your device and contains none of your messages.

What you type

Each message you send, and the reply you get, is stored on the server that runs the site so the answers can be reviewed and improved. Your network address is not stored with it. The last few turns of your conversation travel with each message so she can follow the thread; the server does not keep a conversation attached to you between visits.

Please do not enter passwords, payment details, medical information, or anything about other people. It is a joke, and the joke is stored.

Ratings

If you rate an answer with the tiara or the spaniel, the message, the answer, your rating, and any note you add are stored. A shortened, one-way hash of your network address is stored with the rating so that abuse of the rating buttons can be detected. The address itself is not stored and cannot be recovered from the hash.

Limits and misbehaviour

To keep the site available, the server counts recent messages per network address in memory for a short window (about ten minutes) and slows down or ignores visitors who flood it or repeat themselves. This count is not written to disk.

Services in front of the site

Traffic reaches the site through Cloudflare, which provides the secure connection and filters automated abuse. Cloudflare processes your network address and request details to do that, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The site itself runs on privately operated hardware; your messages are not sent to any outside AI service.

What is done with stored text

Stored questions and answers are read by the people who run the site and used to improve her answers, including as examples for the software that generates them. Conversations are not sold, shared with advertisers, or published in a form that identifies anyone. Once a day one question and her answer may be quoted publicly, on the site's own social account and as a note in the Donut Coin chain, with nothing that identifies who asked; a question that mentions a person, a phone number, an address, an email or a link is never quoted.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because nothing identifies you, there is nothing to look up by name. If you have pasted something you want removed, describe the message and approximately when it was sent using the spaniel button on any answer, and it will be deleted from the stored log.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
